CIAG Collaborative Proposal Incentive Program

PLEASE NOTE:

  • Failure to follow these guidelines will result in rejection of your application.
  • No more than one project is likely to be funded in 2009.
  • Only CIAG Faculty may serve as the Lead PI.

Purpose

The overall goal of this program is to support the development and submission of a large multidisciplinary proposal for either a collaborative research or a training grant from extramural programs, such as NSF or NIH, in the area of animal and microbial genomics that meet College of Agriculture and Life Sciences/Experiment Station mission-oriented research goals.  The grant will provide funding for a one course buy-out (up to $8,000 post hoc) and administrative support for proposal preparation (up to $2,000) during the academic year to allow for a CIAG faculty member to lead a collaborative effort to develop and submit a competitive extramural proposal.  It is expected that the proposal has the potential to enhance newly developed or ongoing research programs and contribute to innovative and significant research.

Due to the source of this funding, the personnel must support research that reflects the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences/Experiment Station's mission-oriented approach toward directed research.  The research goal must clearly articulate a specific outcome that benefits animal agriculture and/or shows a link between animal and human health.  In addition, the research should reflect CIAG's efforts to encourage collaboration among faculty, enhance research competitiveness, and promote cutting edge research in genomics.

Eligibility

Lead PIs must be faculty members affiliated with CIAG.  No all co-PIs need to be CIAG members.
